Just in time for the shortest day of the year, the winter solstice. Happy Holidays, Seasons Greetings, and all that stress filled shopping mall mumbo jumbo. Yes, that is a Toys R Us bag as my set design. The photography was taken at my parent’s cabin in Colorado and most of the editing was done in Houston, Texas. The notion of this pyramid movie is to fade the comparisons between the holidays of the winter solstice: Christmas, Hannukah, Yule, Duali, Kwanza, and most importantly - Oshnaqua. Send the link to all your friends.
The ICEHOUSE game pieces were designed by Andrew Looney of Looney Labs. I did a short review of him and the game system on Pyramid Test. If you want to learn more, visit the links, watch the movie, and buy the game.
The song “Silent Night” is performed by Sonic Deviant, an experimental sound artist and musician, aka Shane Hendricks. He also writes blogs about music and the mac. His music has the spacy feel of all eras of Pink Floyd, not something I would say about just anyone since Floyd is my favorite band ever. He likes to use that Gilmour flavor of ambient guitar with a bit of foreboding atmosphere sunk in behind it, but he does not stop there. Sonic Deviant can have the playfulness of an instrumental They Might Be Giants or the psychodelic room noise of the Beetles ala #9. He has two great albums : the self titled Sonic Deviant and GtrOblq. Both are available from iTunes and CDBaby. He is also very podcast friendly. Most of his stuff is on the Podsafe Music Network, where I stumbled across him, and listed under creative commons.
