Icehouse Game Pieces

pyramid strategy game designed by Andrew Looney from Looney Labs

picture from their website

This is my first stopmotion test. I used this wonderful pyramid game, ICEHOUSE, designed by Andrew Looney of Looney Labs that I am absolutely addicted to. Looney designed the game while writing a book, The Empty City, where the main characters are all united by playing this chess like game. Game play is a quick strategy without turns, consequently, any ICEHOUSE game is only as long as the timer. I have to differentiate with the ICEHOUSE moniker because the game pieces are part of a game system. To the layman that means ICEHOUSE is only one of the games that can be played with the colorful crystals. As if an alien culture evolved with these guys instead of playing cards, there are thousands of different versions that riff off of the original and span into their own realm from the simple path game like candyland to a light RPG. All of these variations can be found at this WIKI . There really is something for everyone.

Looney also made FLUXX, one of his more mainstream games. I even saw it at one of those mall kiosks they were setting up for ChristmasTime. Is October insanely early for doing that to anyone else? FLUXX has ever changing rules that build and cancel each other out. I hate to say you have to pay close attention, because you don't. You do at first, but then the game slips into a groove that is perfect for a social gathering over a couple beers or glasses of wine. At least this is how I like to play it. Unfortunately, you could easily look away for a second and someone might have played a single card that wins them the game. Or you for that matter. If you know any discordians that you moderately care about, buy them this game.

The song “Martian Pyramids” from the album APOCALYPSE THEN was composed by Messian Dread, an electronica reggae composer. He has a politically active blog in the DubRoom, advocating human rights, reggae music, and Consciousness. Through this vessel he reviews books and music as well as providing release dates and music. I found his work on the Podsafe Music Network.

ABOUT THE FLEA

I like faeries and the metaphor of zombies. I do not pretend to understand Chompski or Einstein's theory of special relativity. I think I have a firm grasp on Dasein, but can we ever really be sure? I write about my realities with fantasi twists. I twist my fantasies with realities. I have written entire books, movies, and full scale epics in my head. This is the collection of those thoughts onto less abstract medium.
